Chris Scerri has been a busy guy lately, playing often and always bringing along some friends.  In July, he played the Friends of The Library concert and brought along Amanda Dorey and James McLauglin.  He’ll be sharing the stage this week with Jamie and Pete Devlin when he plays his sold out show at Terrace Thursdays.

Chris has been busy bringing music to Meaford, organizing the Meaford Summer Concert Series on selected Fridays.  The next one will be with The Honeyrunners, and special guest Victoria Yeh on Friday August 12th.  As openers for that show he’s lined up the Todd Brownlow Band.  He has been working with The Leeky Canoe to line up live entertainment to correspond to the evenings when there will be live music at Meaford Hall or the Market Square, so that the music can continue through the night.

His Tuesday night open mic at The Leeky Canoe, starting at 8 p.m., has become a focal point for talent from all around the area.  Last week the duo East Back Line came from Kimberley to join the evening’s show.  Along with the great guitarists who join him each week there is always a good chance of seeing some of the local talent that includes Amanda Dorey, James McLaughlin, Scott Almond and Larry Quinton.  You never know what combination of talent might end up on the stage, sometimes including performers from that night’s Meaford Hall concert or Chris’s friends from out of town.

In this video recorded at The Leeky, Chris is accompanied by Jayden Grahlman and Victoria Yeh in a moving version of Prince’s “Purple Rain”:
