Karla Crawford Is Unstoppable

Karla Crawford will be playing two gigs this week in Collingwood as we move into the Christmas season.  She is a hardworking singer-songwriter, originally from Midland, whose strong work ethic has kept her going through many years in the music business, and is lately benefiting audiences in our area.

For about ten years she played a regular round of resorts and corporate gigs, pleasing audiences nightly with a wide selection of country favourites.  But her real goal was to develop as a songwriter.  She paid her dues in the Nashville scene where she did some co-writing and played every chance she got, rubbing elbows with the likes of Terri Clark, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Brad Paisley, and Jason McCoy.

She released an album called “Blame It On Something”, co-written with several hit songwriters in Nashville.

But, like so many people who come from this area, she missed Georgian Bay and returned home to continue her hard work of continually building an audience, and to focus on more rootsy original material.  Having built a career on corporate gigs, she has enjoyed the direct connection with the public that is available at places like The Huron Club and Gustav’s, where she’ll be playing this week.

As she told Simcoe.com in 2008 when she returned home, “Nashville was a great experience and I learned a lot. But I found more inspiration here, found more contentment here. There’s no better feeling than doing what I’m doing.”

Nashville’s loss is our gain.  She’s been described as “a sexy, sassy entertainer with a traditional Country soul.”

Karla Crawford’s show at Gustav’s on Wednesday starts at 7 and she’ll be doing dinner shows at The Huron Club on Thursday.
